Ceremonial trip to Mallorca for the almond blossom

Those who want to experience Mallorca from a truly unique perspective should do so from the end of January to about mid-March. During this time, the island transforms into a delicately fragrant sea of blossoms – it's almond blossom season. Many areas of the island showcase this captivating natural spectacle in soft pink and radiant white.

At the end of January, while Germany is still in the depths of winter, spring has already begun in Mallorca with beautiful, sunny days and often pleasant temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. These are precisely the right conditions for the buds of the famous Mallorcan almond trees, which begin to open at this time of year, transforming into magnificent clouds of white and pink blossoms. A truly moving natural spectacle.
From mid-February to mid-March, 7 million almond trees display their full splendor.

Almond groves, their delicate fragrance filling the air, are enveloped in pink and white against a bright blue sky, with the breathtaking backdrop of the Tramuntana Mountains. Or perhaps a single blossoming almond tree in a semi-wild garden with its characteristic low stone walls and grazing sheep: the almond blossom season is an incomparably beautiful natural phenomenon, offering wonderful views for nature lovers.

Originally, it was the Moors who brought the almond tree from the Orient to Mallorca in the 10th century. Thus, this tree has been an integral part of Mallorcan agriculture for centuries. This is naturally reflected in the island's culinary traditions: almonds feature in many typical specialties, such as the sweet Turrón or the popular almond cake Gato de Almendra.
